Big shout out to DJ Hix for holding us down, we appreciate all the love and support! Also a special thanks to Torraine because none of this would be possible without him. Torraine is our UK representative and connected us with DJ Hix.

Bio:

DJ Hix is one of the UK’s most exciting and in-demand new DJ talents. Born in London and based in Belfast, Hix is generally considered as one of the finest RnB DJs to ever come out of the island of Ireland. At the turn of 2009, the nominees for Best DJ for the Fate Awards were announced, and for the second year running, Hix has been voted by the public as one of the top 5 DJs in all music genres, receiving more votes than any other urban DJ, which simply confirms his position as the number one urban DJ in Northern Ireland.

Hix is Sony Music’s official Street Team representative in Ireland, and is also signed up to the mighty Bumsquad DJz, a collective of the world’s finest club-rocking DJs. Members include Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money, Riz & Sizzahands, Latin Prince, Shortee Blitz, and now DJ Hix – chosen as the sole member for the island of Ireland, and one of only 5 in the whole of the UK.

His sound stretches across RnB, HipHop, Soul, Dancehall and all things urban, but what makes him stand out from the rest is his ability to create a unique party vibe whenever he plays. He captivates audiences wherever he goes, and he is renowned for making even the quietest crowds go crazy, cutting and scratching his way through the biggest urban club vibes.

Hix has worked with some of the finest DJs and artists in the business, including 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Akon, Rihanna, Boyz II Men, DJ Cash Money, DJ Premier, Clinton Sparks, Rhymefest, Ryan Leslie, Fatman Scoop, Shortee Blitz, Steve Sutherland & Trevor Nelson to name just a few…

Hix has supported some of the world’s biggest recording artists live on stage in concert. In November 2007 he was 50 CENT’s official support act, and single-handedly rocked 11,000 people at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.

His performance caused such an impression that people were talking about Hix as much as they were about 50 Cent. And after the gig, 50 Cent’s management praised him as one of the best DJs they’ve ever had open a show for them, and he received plaudits from G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks, Whoo Kid and 50 Cent himself.

Videos and pictures of the performance are available at Hix’s official website www.djhix.com.

Soon after this, Hix was invited to support another global superstar – RIHANNA – live on stage at The Odyssey Arena in Belfast in front of another sell-out crowd of 11,000 people.

The superstar names continued, as he then supported the biggest-selling male vocal group of all time BOYZ II MEN, when they made their first ever Belfast appearance at The Waterfront Hall in September 2008. This was quickly followed by being invited to open for AKON – again at The Odyssey Arena – in early 2009

Hix is unquestionably the number one urban DJ in Northern Ireland, and is the top man in the urban club scene there. He is highly regarded by artists, DJs, agents, and record labels from all parts of the globe, and his infectious sound and distinctive DJ skills can be heard regularly filling the dancefloors of the hottest clubs in the land.

He is also responsible for creating some of Belfast’s biggest and most respected clubnights, and bringing some extremely high-profile guests to them, some of which were never-before-seen in this part of the world. However, after his own personal DJ career continued to rise and rise, he decided to step aside from being involved in club promotion to concentrate completely on his club and radio DJ career.

He is one of the brightest new stars of UK urban radio. He is the first and only urban DJ from Ireland to ever have had a show on national UK radio, broadcasting on the mighty BBC 1Xtra – home of Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Mistajam, Ronnie Herel and more. After they spotted him performing in a club in Belfast, he was asked for a demo by some of the high-ranking producers at 1Xtra, and this resulted in them inviting him to present the Xtra Talent slot, a privilege given only to those that 1Xtra feel are the new voices of UK radio.

It was a 2hour slot every Monday morning, and it lasts for 1 month. However, 1Xtra were so impressed by Hix that they invited him back for a second and then a third month, making him the first person ever to do this.

The strong bond with 1Xtra continues, and he can be seen spinning at some of their hot live events, most recently at the 1Xtra Comic Relief party at a secret location in the heart of London. He is also BBC 1Xtra’s official Ireland correspondent and contributor.

His experience at BBC 1Xtra allowed him to develop into a supremely competent broadcaster, and just a few months later, 97 4 Cool FM – the biggest commercial station in Northern Ireland – offered him his own show.

Each and every Friday night from 11pm, DJ Hix presents The Urban Takeover – he spins through the hottest HipHop & RnB, with fresh exclusive tracks, classic jams, competitions, high-profile artist interviews, and more….. it’s officially Northern Ireland’s most-listened-to urban radio show, and it’s amassing a huge fan-base by the week.

Hix is also a music journalist, writing for the legendary Blues & Soul Magazine, which was the longest running black music publication in the world with 40 years in the game, published fortnightly in the UK. He is now a regular contributing writer to BlackSheep Magazine.

As well as all this, Hix is now officially sponsored by Funkey Flash Back designer clothing, one of the most exciting new urban designer clothing labels in the US. Hix joins the likes of Juelz Santana, Spider-Loc of G-Unit, Lennox Lewis and more as one of the select celebrities chosen around the world to be sponsored by Funkey Flash Back Clothing.

The pace at which DJ Hix’s career continues to rise is increasing by the day. 2009 is a phenomenal year for Hix, and 2010 is set to see him reach even more new heights. DJ Hix is already on a fast-track to becoming one of the top urban club and radio DJs in the UK, and even further afield – after making strong links in LA, central Europe and Asia, things are now going worldwide!… and the amazing thing is, he’s years younger than most of his contemporaries!… he’s just getting started!……
